IF IT SAYS FREE SHOULD IT ALWAYS BE FREE?Recently I was at a book fair and bought a number of books.One was called “Living Dharma’ by Ajahn Chah. For those who are interested he was a renowned mediation master based in Thailand. Many Westerners use to travel to his monastery to seek guidance around meditation and living a more mindful life.As I settled in to read my new purchase something caught my eye. On the back of the book it said: “printed for free distribution.” This minor thing caused me to feel agitated and slightly angry. Why should I pay for something that is meant to be free? I struggled with this for a time before the book offered a Buddhist aha moment-“The minute we become averse to something the mind goes bad. Don’t try to cling to a concept in your mind of good or bad If you want to be happy….We won’t learn anything if we keep looking outwards.”Reading this allowed me to let go and move on!
